Medically managed detox provision for the most complex individuals is delivered in England by the NHS. A substance misuse medically managed inpatient detoxification service can care for people with complex physical, mental health and behavioural issues and provide 24-hour nursing cover. The service will require good liaison with General Practitioners and clear pathways with, or supported by, acute hospitals. The Service should be equitable across the Central South Coast Consortium area, offering a consistent approach to access and quality standards whilst also taking account of local needs and variation. The service will: • increase the number of people successfully completing treatment and becoming drug and/or alcohol free • reduce the harm and mortality associated with alcohol and drug use and dependency and improve the health and wellbeing of adults with alcohol and drug dependency problems • reduce health inequalities in relation to substance misuse • support people with complex needs to promo...
