There are also resting places for birds. From 2009 to 2015 there has been a research consortium led by Deltares, monitoring conducted for the evaluation of mitigation. Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) client for this monitoring. This monitoring should answer the question or by additional protection in the form of fishing restrictions and the establishment of additional rest areas for scoters, terns, is compensated enough for the then predicted significant impacts resulting from the construction and presence of Maasvlakte 2. Rijkswaterstaat, the Consortium IMARES and Deltares given the task of coordinating the second phase, starting in 2016, of monitoring environmental compensation for Delta. From this function the various lots are put on the market.
