These cameras are a mixture of bosh ip cameras that are decoded back to analogue and a mixture of analogue cameras that are encoded over a wireless network and then decoded via verint decoders to record onto dm digital video recorders. The existing wireless network, Switches and overall design is now not up to specification. This has created continuous issues across the estate. Currently the existing wifi, Switches and recorders frequently freeze which leaves operators with a maximum of 50% of the cameras working at one time. Our wireless and cctv maintenance contractor have to attend this site at least once a fortnight to reboot switches, Dvr’s and wireless equipment. The system is in a very poor state and does require a full upgrade in the near future, However, This is not possible short term due to the future management and strategy of the boroughs cctv systems still to be decided. Our chosen solution us to replace the entire wireless network including all switches. All 7x recorders will also be replaced. This is to increase coverage across the estates existing cameras from approx. 50-60% (current) to 90%+ (on completion)we have opted to utilize existing cameras and cabling between cameras and switch points however new cabling is required between wifi and switches.
