Future FET: Transforming Learning, the National Further Education and Training (FET) Strategy 2020-2024 provides a clear policy context for the provision of high-quality further education and training responses to the needs of industry. The LMETB Advanced Manufacturing and Training Centre of Excellence grew out of an identified need to upskill trades people in anticipation of Brexit and in order to address identified industry needs. It is envisaged that the centre will continue to become a focal point for the delivery of multiple upskilling opportunities including upskilling for qualified trades persons, training for site supervisors as well as basic training for future apprentices. In addition to the training for trade persons, the centre also contains other components including a 3D design and print fabrication laboratory (FABLAB) along with other innovative technologies.
