The University~s main sports centre is based in the Stevenson Building which being extensively modernised and extended. University Sport now boasts over 15,000 members and sustains many thousands of user visits per week. This is a hugely impressive physical activity uptake and a genuine success story for the University. The updated Stevenson Building will provide more opportunities and much needed additional sport and exercise facilities to the University community.The Stevenson Building extension and renovation is the largest development of sport provisions at the University of Glasgow since the introduction of the Garscube Sports Complex in 1997. This innovative development in sport provisions will provide sufficient space to enable more activity. The facilities included will be cardio-vascular (CV) and muscle conditioning areas, featuring a wide spectrum of equipment, covering 725sqm each and an activity hall with a high performance floor system with a viewing gallery for all our sporting needs.University Sport has a requirement to appoint a supplier to supply, deliver and install group exercise class bicycles that will, be located in a dedicated studio in the renovated Stevenson Building.The equipment will be used by a membership predominantly ages 18-30 which expects cutting edge technology which is easy to use. However the membership range includes staff of all ages and individuals well into their 80s which will expect to find the equipment familiar and unintimidating. With several thousand international students equipment should also provide ease of use through language barriers and the ability to customise for languages and distance measurements. Equipment should also not date quickly and be easy to upgrade and future proofed. Connectivity should be provided for all purposes via Cat6 cabling or wifi connection.Equipment must be extremely robust and hard wearing, whilst being safe and incorporating innovative design to meet the needs of the broad spectrum of University Sport customers (novice users through to world class athletes).Tender documents available from Public Contracts ScotlandTender returns should be submitted via Public Contracts Scotland, no paper copies will be accepted.
