The six-month flowering season begins in June in the Pilbara, Goldfields and along the Coral Coast. By September, it moves south and reaches Perth, finishing in October and November throughout the South West.Research into the impact of WA?s wildflowers on tourism indicates that wildflowers generate a niche appeal amongst both the domestic and international markets and are generally a motivator to visit a destination ? rather than the primary driver. However wildflower tourism research has been limited to a minor part of larger research projects. As a result, there is little research to inform how many people currently travel to/within WA for wildflowers and who those people are.Tourism WA is seeking to undertake primary research to size, segment and profile the domestic and international market for wildflower tourism and to understand their economic benefit and any opportunities which exist.
