The contract will be for a period of 7 years from September 2015 until August 2022 (with the option for 3 12-month extensions) during this time the successful Contractor will provide the Authority with a high quality dependable service. In the last year approximately 172 250 samples were tested on a variety of different assays at five sites located in SNBTS Clinical testing laboratories (Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow). In addition to the above which is primarily for use by the Clinical Directorate, the Supply Chain Directorate requires a small capacity analyser at both Edinburgh and Glasgow to perform automated red cell antibody screening testing equivalent to a manual IAT Test on donor samples from donations selected for the production of neonatal components. Sample numbers from the Supply Chain are in tyhe region of 2 250 per annum.
