The contractor will be responsible for visiting and assessing the sites and providing the design required for each area.The work on all sites will be carried out under road closure but it may be necessary to provide access to local residents and traffic management will still be required within the closures to allow safe passage through the works on occasion. The contractor will also set up, maintain and dismantle the necessary signs for the closures.Some carriageway patching may also be necessary between thicknesses of 40mm to 100mm and this will be marked on site immediately prior to the surface dressing works when the road closure is in place. The existing road surface on the A706 is a mixture of HRA and SMA whilst on the A801 it is HRA. The road surface on the A904 is a combination of chipped HRA and an old surface dressing.On completion of the surface dressing works, the newly surface dressed road surfaces will require a settling down period and the loose chips swept up before the new carriageway markings are applied so the road closures may need to be re-established to install the new markings. This will probably be after a period of between 2 4 weeks.The total area requiring treatment is 36300 m2 and due to various factors including programme parameters, West Lothian requires a summer lay.Replacement of defective anti-skid surfacing; A904.There is a defective area of anti-skid surfacing on the A904 that requires treatment. This will be planed off and resurfaced in HRA and have new antiskid surfacing applied.
