The overall restoration and improvement project aims to not only restore these buildings but to enhance the interpretation of artefacts and the buildings themselves, update displays and conserve nationally and internationally important artefacts in the Council~s museum collection, and includes a new building to house fragile artefacts and other facilities essential in a 21st century museum.The Museum is currently housed in three Naval buildings:- Pump House (main Museum building)- Oil Tank (displays large objects and projected films)- Romney Hut (displays small and traditional boat collection)The Exhibition & Interpretation Consultant will be required to work collaboratively with the Authority Client Team and Client appointed consultants to provide interpretation within Scapa Flow Visitor Centre & Museum which tells the story of Scapa Flow~s role in the two World Wars and its key role as the home of the Naval Fleet, within the wider context of Orkney in a visually attractive and engaging way, providing visitors with a memorable experience.Further details on Exhibition & Interpretation Design Services Brief can be found in the Orkney Islands Council Invitation to Quote (ITQ ref. 12/0511/002D-ITQ) documentation included as part of this notice.
