The contract concerns the remediation of Klippan leather factory. The factory ran chrome tanning and activities have contaminated the land under and adjacent former factory buildings. The area around the plant have been filled with large quantities of contaminated excavated material, demolition waste and process waste with leather, etc. Superficial layer of soil in the surrounding area have also been contaminated by emissions to air and water. The pollution consists primarily of chromium (three- and hexavalent), and arsenic, but locally there are other pollutants. Total gross floor area for redevelopment area is about 11 hectares.
