I. To act as a major node on the WMO Global Telecommunications System (GTS); this enables the SMHI to exchange observational data and products with other countries around the world. II. To act as the central data switch within Sweden; this enables observations to be received and data to be distributed to a number of production systems, at both headquarters and outstations. III. To act as the delivery system for WMO messages; this enables the SMHI to distribute data to a variety of external organisations. There is also a need to replace the web-based system for TAF visualization, Messir-Net, as this also runs on Windows2003-servers. This replacement is, however, outside the scope of this procurement act.
