Title:
Angola - Coastal Towns Inclusive Sanitation Project Phase 1
Detail:
The proposed investment, through its contribution to the sustainable economic infrastructure, is in line with the goal of the outgoing Ten-Year Strategy (TYS)and the aspirations of the draft TYS (2023-2032) of the Bank. It is aligned to the High 5s through its contribution to the improvement of the quality of life of people as the project impacts the health and social well-being of people in the project area and supports skills development and job creation for young professionals and technicians in the water and sanitation sector. The proposed intervention is also aligned with the Country Strategy Paper (CSP: 2017-2021 and extended to 2023). The extended CSP focuses on two pillars:(i) Inclusive growth through agriculture transformation, and (ii) support for sustainable infrastructure development. The proposed project is anchored in the second pillar and contributes to the building of sustainable and resilient infrastructure to support Angola’s economic and social development. The project also attracted co-financing from the AGTF expanding the footprint of the ADB lending beyond headroom available for Angola. The project was identified and included in the CSP for support by the Bank. The project contributes to climate finance, with 62 million USD of the total approved amount dedicated to adaptation.
