Botswana - Public investment programme implementation diagnosis and implementation skills capacity assessment

The proposed operation is a grant’s amount not exceeding UA 210,000 from the Middle-Income Countries Technical Assistance Fund (MIC TAF) resources to the Republic of Botswana, for the Public Investment Programme Implementation Diagnosis and Skills Capacity Assessment. This project will assist the government of Botswana in developing proper mitigation measures in addressing capacity gaps across government ministries and departments to enhance project implementation. The exercise will be informed by a clear diagnosis of challenges and proposed solutions to project implementation in the country. This MICTAF funded study intends to contribute to improved project management, implementation and achievement of development outcomes in Botswana. The project will attract follow-on tangible investments, especially in human capital development in order to build the required skills needed to drive project implementation at different levels through short, targeted courses, TVET, and higher education training. The implementation of this project will assist Botswana to achieve the development goals as outlined in the National Development Plan and position the country to be an upper income country by 2036, as espoused in the country’s Vision 2036. The study is divided into three components : (i) An assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of the current implementation arrangements and status of the Public Investment Plan and (ii) Development of PIP Implementation Strategy and Improvement Plan, and (iii) Project Management and Institutional support. The implementation timeframe is 2 years from September 2025 to October 2027.
