This intervention concerns the Water and Sanitation Services Improvement Project for Resilience Building (PASEPA-ER). It aims to contribute to universal access to drinking water and sanitation for people in the project area. The Bank’s intervention will mainly improve the access rate to drinking water and sanitation services in the project area, build the resilience of IDPs and host households, and further protect water resources. In addition to building water and sanitation infrastructure, the project will help implement the national strategy for managing the public drinking water supply in rural and semi-urban areas by establishing and strengthening the capacity of structures that manage the service, as well as mobilizing the water supply financial contribution by consolidating the collection of the raw water tax from the private delegated entities that will manage drinking water supply. The project is implemented with four (4) components: (i) Development of climate resilient and gender-sensitive drinking water infrastructure; (ii) Development of climate resilient and gender-sensitive sanitation infrastructure; (iii) Studies and capacity-building; and (iv) Project coordination and management. This project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 100% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which 100% is adaptation finance.
