Burundi - Project to Build Resilience to Climate Change through Improvement of Water Information and Security (PRECISE)
Detail:
The Water Sector and Climate Resilience Building Support Programme in Burundi (PASEREC – Phase 1), supported through an addendum under the ADF-16 Climate Action Window – Adaptation sub-window, is a water, sanitation and climate resilience programme designed to strengthen water security, improve access to climate-resilient drinking water and sanitation services, and support socio-economic resilience in rural Burundi. The programme combines the development of rural water and sanitation infrastructure, support for sector reform and governance, climate resilience building, and project management. It will finance 27 solar-powered drinking water supply systems, support small-scale irrigation and agro-pastoral cooperatives, strengthen rural WASH governance, and improve climate-resilient planning and service delivery. The total project cost is UA 7.61 million, financed by UA 6.25 million from the African Development Fund through the Climate Action Window, UA 0.26 million in co-financing from the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), and UA 1.10 million from the Government of Burundi. The executing agency is the Burundi Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (AHAMR).
