Burundi - Ruvyironza Water Resources and Multi-Usage Dam Development Project

PRODERER is one of the investment projects considered a priority under the Kagera Basin Development Plan, due to its transboundary importance, its location on the shared Kagera River watercourse, its expected impact on improving water availability, food security through increased agricultural production and energy security, as well as reducing environmental degradation and adapting to climate change. The Government of the Republic of Burundi (GoB) therefore requested NELSAP-CU on August 19, 2022, to mobilize the resources needed to prepare this important project. In this context, NELSAP-CU applied to the African Water Facility on December 15, 2022, 2023, to finance the studies for the project.
