The proposed operation in an ADB loan of EUR 39.629 million in addition to the first phase of EUR 114.336 million, approved on 20 October 2021 to the Republic of Cameroon to finance the Project to develop access roads to the industrial and port area of Kribi (PARZIK). The first phase of Kribi’s port infrastructure comprises (i) a 350-metre-longcontainer terminal; and (ii) a 265-metre-longmultipurpose terminal. The following are currently being developed (a) the second phase which, from 2024, should provide an additional 700-metre quay bringing the container terminal capacity up to 1,000,000 x 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs); and the (b) the industrial complex combined with a vast area for heavy, medium and light industry, a modern residential town with housing for up to 300,000 people by 2040, as well as new and improved transport infrastructure. The project is expected to be implemented over seven years (2021-2028). Given its macroeconomic context and within the limits consistent with the country's level of debt sustainability, the Government wished to commit the Bank's financing in two phases.
