Cameroon - Project for Studies and Preparation of a Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Programme

The present project focuses on conducting studies for the preparation of an investment program for the construction of 300 mini-grids for drinking water supply in rural areas of Cameroon. This is a Government response to the difficulties that hinder the development of the rural water sub-component. The project aims to improve the efficiency of investments in the drinking water and sanitation sub-sector. This project will also mobilize the funds needed to finance the construction works of the mini-grids for which the studies are carried out. In the long term, the program resulting from these studies will contribute to improving the rate of access to drinking water in the localities selected and the sustainability, management, regularity of the water service and monitoring and evaluation of existing water supply works and to be built in rural areas. The main components of the project are: (i) studies; (ii) institutional support as well as (iii) project management and coordination.
