Cameroon – Project Preparation Facility (PPF) for the Eco-Energy Construction and Equipment of CENAME Warehouses and LNSP Centers of Excellence (CEEDEL)
Detail:
The Project Preparation Facility (PPF) for the Eco-Energy Construction and Equipment of CENAME Warehouses and LNSP Centers of Excellence (CEEDEL) supports the Government of Cameroon in preparing a major health infrastructure investment aimed at strengthening the national pharmaceutical supply chain and laboratory network. The total cost of the PPF is UA 2.6 million, financed by an African Development Fund PPF advance of UA 2.21 million (85%) and a Government counterpart contribution of UA 390,000 (15%), with no external co-financiers. The operation finances feasibility studies, detailed engineering designs, environmental and social safeguards instruments, and tender documents for the construction and equipment of a central headquarters and ten regional warehouses for the National Essential Medicines Supply Center (CENAME), as well as the repositioning of the National Public Health Laboratory (LNSP) through the development of a headquarters and six regional centers of excellence. The project aligns with Cameroon’s 2023–2028 Country Strategy Paper, the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy 2024–2033, the High 5 priority “Improve the Quality of Life for the People of Africa,” the Strategy for Quality Health Infrastructure in Africa (2022–2030), and the Bank’s strategies on fragility, climate resilience and gender equality.
