Democratic Republic of Congo - Project to Support the Development of Agricultural Value Chains in Six Provinces in DRC (PADCA-6P)
Detail:
The Agricultural Value Chains Development Support Project in six provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (PADCA-6P) aims to sustainably improve food and nutrition security and increase the incomes of the target population. It’s designed in a context characterized by a food deficit estimated between 20 and 30% (depending on the region). It will be implemented over a five-year period (2019-2024) for a total cost of UA 22.153 million in the provinces of Kwilu, Kasaï, Haut Iomami, Iomami, Maniema, and Tshopo. The project design is based on the value chain approach and takes into account the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) programme initiative which aims to contribute significantly to: (i) increasing agricultural productivity and production by identifying and disseminating appropriate farming technologies; (ii) conducting training and extension campaigns for the adoption of good farming practices through the effective provision of technologies to farmers; and (iii) promoting a plant sub-sector development policy. The project will comprise the following three components: (1) Plant Sub-sector Development; (2) Institutional Support, Improvement of Governance and Capacity Building; as well as (3) Project Coordination, Management and Monitoring and Evaluation.
