Detail:
This operation concerns emergency humanitarian assistance for the fight against Ebola haemorrhagic fever epidemic in North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It’s designed to provide a direct and immediate response to the humanitarian emergency to support the efforts of the Congolese government and its partners to address the spread of the epidemic. The operation should be implemented immediately against this 10th Ebola outbreak in Beni Health Zones (ZS); Butembo; Oicha; Mabalako; Musienene; Goma and Mandina in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri, affected by the epidemic. These include the following emergency actions: surveillance and active search for suspected cases and contacts; the management of patients in health centers (HC) located in the seven (07) health zones affected by the epidemic; reinforcement of individual and collective prevention measures in the community and in the health structures; staffing of health structures with protective equipment, personnel, drugs, reagents, consumables and other inputs, reinforcement of field intervention teams by experts from the central level; deployment of mobile laboratory teams in the above-mentioned HZs; vaccination; intensification of public awareness through 2 different media; strengthening of coordination through the establishment of coordination committees at different levels. At the end of the intervention, the provincial structures of the affected areas should be strengthened, and could in the future be in a better capacity to cope effectively with possible similar situations through the implementation of epidemiological surveillance and monitoring appropriate response plans.
