The GoE requested the African Development Bank to provide technical assistance for the preparation of the Water Pillar of the Nexus of Water Food and Energy Platform, the NWFE-WP. GoE further requested the Bank to mobilize blended financing (loans and grants) to make NWFE-WP related investments more commercially viable for investors. The GoE signed on November 8, 2022,a partnership agreement with the Bank to build 5 renewable energy-powered water desalination plants with a total capacity of 525,000 cubic meters per day in 4 governorates with total financing of $625 Million under the NWFE platform. The current proposal, the WaDRE-R | ESA, is part of the Bank’s commitment for mobilizing technical assistance.
