Ethiopia - Borana Resilient Water Development for Improved Livelihoods Program II –Additional Financing
Detail:
The Borana Resilient Water Development for Improved Livelihoods Program II – Additional Financing is a scale-up operation for the ongoing Borana water development programme in the Borana area of Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It is designed to strengthen climate resilience and improve sustainable access to low-carbon, climate-resilient water and sanitation services for pastoralist communities. The additional financing will expand and climate-proof the existing programme through the extension of the Weib distribution line, installation of six solar-powered pumping systems, construction of additional reservoirs, water points, cattle troughs, public washing basins, public latrines and gender-segregated school sanitation facilities, as well as household biodigesters, rainwater harvesting valley tanks, and catchment management interventions. The original Phase II programme was approved with UA 35 million from ADF and UA 5 million from the Government of Ethiopia. This additional financing provides UA 7.17 million from the Climate Action Window (CAW) and UA 5.34 million from the Rome Process/Mattei Plan Financing Facility (RPFF), bringing the total Phase II programme cost to UA 52.51 million.
