Ethiopia - Multi-Sectoral Approach for Stunting Reduction Project (MASReP)
Detail:
The Multi-sectoral Approach for Stunting Reduction Project (MASReP) is designed to contribute to the realization of the Ethiopian government's commitment, known as the Seqota Declaration (SD), through the implementation of a package of interventions in the selected districts of Amhara and Tigray regions of Ethiopia. The 2015 Seqota Declaration reaffirms the government's commitment to ending stunting in children under two by 2030. Indeed, malnutrition remains one of the main development challenges in Ethiopia. The project target area has the highest stunting prevalence in Ethiopia (48% of children under-five). The full project package of interventions consists of (i) infrastructure development/maintenance (water supply and irrigation schemes, health, education and agriculture facilities), (ii) livelihood support, production and promotion of nutritious food crops and livestock, and (iii) system/capacity strengthening activities. Among the 40 target woredas of the SD program, the project will implement the full package of multi-sectoral interventions in the prioritized 17 woredas while the remaining 23 woredas will benefit only from the SBCC and systems strengthening activities to complement government’s interventions. The MASReP is a fouryear project. The total project cost is UA 34.17 million with UA 22.00 million from ADF. The contribution of the Government of Ethiopia and communities is UA 11.38 and UA 0.79 million, respectively.
