GUINEA – 225 KV Guinea-Mali Electricity Interconnection Project (FA-PIEGM-Guinee) - Additional Financing
Detail:
The Additional Financing for the Guinea–Mali 225 kV Electricity Interconnection Project aims to complete and expand the initial project by addressing cost overruns and supporting new activities that reinforce development impact. The overall objective remains to enable electricity exchanges between Guinea and Mali while improving access to affordable, reliable energy for households and productive users in Guinea. The additional financing amounts to UA 19.05 million, comprising an ADF loan of UA 16.25 million and an ADF grant of UA 2.80 million, mainly covering (i) the procurement of 37,500 prepaid metering units and connection materials, (ii) the installation of new medium-voltage feeders to extend rural electrification, (iii) institutional support to EDG, the national regulator (AREE), and the national planning entities, and (iv) the continuation of project management, supervision, audits, environmental monitoring, and UGP operating costs. This additional financing complements the initial project, whose total cost is approximately UA 255.44 million, financed by ADF, the EU-AfIF, the World Bank (IDA), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), and the Government of Guinea.
