Ghana – Regional Program for Rice Development in West Africa (REWARD) – G2
Detail:
The Resilient Rice Regional Value Chains in West Africa (REWARD) – Ghana Project is a Ghana country component of a regional agricultural value chain programme designed to strengthen resilient rice value chains in West Africa. In Ghana, the project is being implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture through the Project Coordination and Management Unit (PCMU), with financing and implementation support from the African Development Bank. Based on the ESMP annex, the project includes activities that require environmental and social risk management during implementation, including compensation and resettlement of affected people, contractor environmental and social management plans, grievance mechanisms, pest management planning, emergency preparedness, stakeholder engagement, riparian notifications where required, and value chain environmental and social due diligence. The project therefore combines agricultural value chain development with environmental and social safeguards measures to ensure compliance with the Bank’s Operational Safeguards and Ghanaian legal requirements.
