The East African Community (EAC) Capacity Building Project aims to strengthen EAC’s capacity for effective integration. The project will support interventions to improve market access for goods, services and movement of people in the EAC, boost the region’s position as a single investment destination to support value-addition and structural transformation, and strengthen the EAC institutional capacities through short term technical assistance and systems reform and upgrade. The Project will also contribute to enhanced food security in the region by facilitating food trade. In addition, it will be provided to boost the region’s position as a single investment destination to support value-addition and structural transformation necessary to further grow trade and create jobs. The project shall be structured into the following four components: (i) enhancing trade facilitation measures to boost EAC trade, (ii) promoting the EAC as a single investment destination, and (iii) strengthening the institutional capacity of the EAC Secretariat. The project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 22% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which USD 2 milion is adaptation finance.
