The Southern Africa Trans-Portlink Mozambique Zimbabwe Botswana Project, is a regional infrastructure initiative aimed at developing a deep-sea port at Techobanine, Mozambique, and a heavy haul railway line connecting Botswana, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. The project is a strategic response to the need for enhanced regional connectivity, trade facilitation, and economic development in Southern Africa. The estimated overall duration of the studies is 60 months from Grant Approval, and including procurement period. The total cost is estimated at USD 3 million. Of this amount, NEPAD-IPPF will provide a reimbursable grant of USD 2,000,000 (67%) and USD 150,000 (5%) will be provided by the Government of Mozambique as in-kind counterpart contribution. Other co-financiers will finance the remaining USD 850,000 (28%).
