Multinational - Strengthening Adaptation to Climate Change of Rice Value Chains in West Africa (“REWARD- Adaptation”)
Detail:
The Strengthening Adaptation to Climate Change of Rice Value Chains in West Africa (REWARD-Adaptation) project is the adaptation component of the AfDB-funded Regional West Africa Resilient Rice Value Chains Development Program (REWARD). It is a multinational regional agriculture and climate adaptation project implemented by the Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) to strengthen the climate resilience of rice value chains from production to processing and marketing across 13 West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. The project will scale up climate-smart rice production technologies and practices, improve access to climate services and early warning systems, promote climate-resilient rice processing technologies, and support community-based enterprises and private sector actors in adopting climate-resilient innovations. The total project cost is estimated at UA 7.816 million (USD 10.385 million), financed by an ADF Climate Action Window adaptation grant of UA 7.106 million (USD 9.442 million) and an AfricaRice counterpart contribution of UA 0.710 million (USD 0.943 million) in kind.
