Multinational - African Network of Centers of Excellence in Electricity- second phase - ANCEE 2.0

In 2016, APUA set up the African Network of Centresof Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE),a continent-wide initiative supported by the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), with the overall objective to improve power sector management and strengthen regional power exchanges through capacity building initiatives and mechanisms targetedat policy makers, utility managers, engineers and technicians. Given the successful establishment of the network of Centres of Excellence, consisting of 10 world class training centres across the continent, the successful deployment of the training and scholarshipprogramas realised through theimplementation of the first phase of ANCEE, and the value addition realised and confirmed by participating Power Utilities (PUs), the APUA membersand board have supported the continuation of a second phase of the ANCEE initiative. This project primarily contributes to climate finance results. As such, 70% of the total approved amount is attributed as climate finance, of which 20% is dedicated to attenuation and 80% to mitigation.
