Title:
Madagascar - Support Project for the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area in Madagascar
Detail:
This operation concerns a Grant of one million (1,000,000) UA from the Transition Support Facility (TSF) Pillar III resources to Madagascar for the African Continental Free Trade Area Implementation Support Project (AfCFTA). This project will support the political framework to move quickly towards the implementation of a roadmap to facilitate the ratification of legal instruments but also to equip stakeholders to better respond to the challenges related to the implementation of the AfCFTA. This project will thus help optimise the results of investment projects currently being implemented in Madagascar in support of regional integration. The support will also identify areas of strengthening for the implementation of the AfCFTA that could be supported under future phases of the Corridor Development and Trade Facilitation Project (CDTF), foreseen in Madagascar's 2022-2026 Country Strategy Paper (CSP), in order to consolidate the gains for better connectivity of the country with continental Africa and for trade facilitation. The AfCFTA AP is structured around two components: (i) Support to the development of a gender-sensitive institutional framework for the implementation of the AfCFTA and (ii) Capacity building and awareness raising of stakeholders including women to support the implementation of the AfCFTA. The duration of the operation is up to 36 months.
