Mauritania-Senegal - Studies of an economic corridor between Nouadhibou - Nouakchott - Rosso - Dakar

This intervention aims to promote African productive and commercial integration. Mauritania and Senegal have decided to consolidate their integration. In this context, thanks to the support of the Bank and other donors, they are building the bridge over the Senegal River in Rosso. The development of this structure and the transport facilitation measures planned as part of the same project will make it possible to (i) permanently ensure the crossing of the Senegal River, and (ii) intensify trade well beyond the two countries. Indeed, this work will ensure long-term connections between the Arab Maghreb Union and West Africa, through the junction between (i) the trans-African axes Cairo-Tangier Dakar, Algiers – Nouakchott – Dakar, and (ii) the Dakar-Abidjan-Lagos corridor. The study will focus on the 5 components presented below: (1) the development of a treaty and design of the corridor management authority, (2) the improvement of transport and transport facilitation frameworks. trade, (3) the development of industrial and human development strategies as well as the identification of a priority program, (4) the development of a strategy for mobilizing financing resources for the priority program and (5) the development of a communications strategy and civil society engagement.
