The proposed Technical Assistance Project is designed to finance the development of an Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Framework and related capacity building. By developing the ESG framework and building the requisite capacity across Government, the proposed project is expected to have a positive impact on Mauritius’s ongoing efforts to attract green investments in Mauritius and the rest of Africa. This will contribute to green growth, job creation and attainment of SDGs. It will, furthermore, complement existing Bank-funded projects in Mauritius, particularly the ongoing Economic Competitiveness and Resilience Support Program. These complementary interventions will achieve significant development outcomes and contribute to the attainment of Mauritius’s medium- term development goals. These outputs are expected to result in the following outcome: (i) 5 projects incorporating ESG principles in line with the new framework; (ii) Governance arrangements for ESG implementation rolled out. The project is structured around two mutually reinforcing and complementary components, namely: (1) Development on an ESG Framework and (2) Capacity building for project management.
