Morocco - Support Program for the Inclusive and Sustainable Development of Agricultural and Rural Areas (PADIDZAR) – MIC Technical Assistance

This intervention concerns technical assistance for the implementation of the Programme to support the inclusive and sustainable development of agricultural and rural areas (PADIDZAR). It forms part of the new "Green Generation 2020-2030" agricultural strategy and the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Programme (PNAEPI) 2020-2027 adopted by Morocco in 2020. The PADIDZAR programme involves developing and rehabilitating Small and Medium Hydraulic Schemes (PMH) in 7 of the country's regions, which concentrate most of the irrigable potential in PMH, with a view to improving the efficiency of traditional irrigation infrastructure by increasing water abstraction at the head of the scheme and reducing losses in the seguias' transport and distribution networks. This will increase the availability of water at the plot level, thereby improving productivity and agricultural production in the PMH perimeters. The proposed PRI/MIC grant has 2 components: (1) the preparation of simplified Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and specific ESMPs for rehabilitation work on PMHs and rural tracks, and (2) institutional support.
