Title:
MOROCCO - Drinking Water Digitisation, Production Enhancement and Performance Improvement Project (PDRAP)
Detail:
Given its geographical location, Morocco is highly vulnerable to hydro-climatic conditions. Water resources are relatively limited, variable over time and unevenly distributed across the country. Morocco’s economic and social development is generating a high demand for water, for the supply of drinking water to the population (urban and rural), industry, tourism, irrigation of agricultural land, and the improvement of water-related environmental parameters, particularly water quality. Over the past few years, Morocco has also felt the effects of climate change, which has taken it from a situation of water stress to one of water shortage, with per capita water supply curve is expected to fall to 500 m3/inhab./yr by 2030, compared to 2 560 m3/inhab./yr in the second half of the last century. The project contributes to climate finance, with 40 million USD of the total approved amount dedicated to adaptation.
