Detail:
This grant, amounting to AU 129,576, is being provided to the Republic of Mozambique under Pillar III of the Transition Support Facility (TSF). It will finance a feasibility study aimed at improving food productivity and value chain efficiency in the district of Ribaue, Nampula province. The project has one major component : strengthen Institutional Capacity, Policy, Regulatory, and Business Environment for Agro-Industrial Development. It seeks to support the recruitment of a consulting firm to undertake a full feasibility study that will align the SSC Project of MAFF with the Agricultural Transformation Centres (ATCs) model under the Bank-funded Pemba Lichinga Integrated Development Corridor SAPZ. This project will assess the feasibility of establishing ATCs and associated Aggregation Centres (ACs) in Ribaue District. The ATCs and ACs are the platform through which inputs (including improved seeds, tractor services, agro chemicals, credit, etc.) will be provided to farmers on a commercial basis. Agro input dealers will be encouraged to rent space and provide these inputs at cost to farmers.
