Nigeria - Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project (ABSIIDP) – Phase I (ROADS)
Detail:
The Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project entails the rehabilitation of roads and erosion control infrastructure as well as the finalization of preparatory studies for solid waste disposal management in the cities of Aba and Umuahia in Abia State. These are an AfDB loan of up to USD 100 million and a Canada-African Development Bank Climate Fund (CACF) loan of up to USD 15 million to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Project will rehabilitate 58.03 km of roads in Umuahia and 190.43km of roads in Aba to asphaltic concrete (AC) standards of varying cross sections. One erosion control site, each in Aba and Umuahia cities will be reinstated in addition. A comprehensive preparatory study exploring the potential for private sector participation through public private partnerships (PPPs) will be carried out for the implementation of the waste disposal component of the project in the next phase. This project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 67.5% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which 50 million USD is adaptation finance.
