Title:
Sudan - Africa Disaster Risk Financing (ADRiFi) Programme
Detail:
This country-specific operation is under the framework of the multinational Africa Disaster Risk Finance (ADRiFi) Project, which aims at building the resilience of RMCs to climate disasters. The ADRiFi Programme (Sudan) will enhance the resilience and response to climate shocks in Sudan by improving the management of climate disaster risks. This will be done through an integrated approach to managing disasters that will cushion the government from the financial impacts of episodes of drought and foster sovereign risk transfer solution as a tool for enhancing disaster risk management in the country. The project spans over a period of 5 years (2022- 2026), with a total budget of UA 9.13 million co-financed from ADF 15 resources and in-kind contributions by ARC and the Government of Sudan as well as from the ADRiFi MDTF. It will be preceded by preparatory activities in 2021. The primary outcomes of the project will be enhanced government preparedness to respond to drought shocks when they occur and more resilient rural communities from drought. It is planned that in the very near future the project will also integrate flood insurance when the product is available from the African Risk Capacity (ARC).
