Tanzania - Dodoma Resilient and Sustainable Water Development and Sanitation Program – Phase 1
Detail:
Phase 1 of Dodoma Resilient and Sustainable Water Development and Sanitation Program aims to improve the supply of water for multiple uses by 2051 through the development of water resources in the city and surrounding communities. It is aligned with the Tanzanian Government's Vision 2025 and its five-year national development plan (FYDP III, 2021/22-2025/26). The program will contribute to the achievement of FYDP III's aspirations for steady economic and social growth in the country and improved health and livelihoods for the people in the targeted areas. The first phase of the program will comprise the following four components: (i) Water Infrastructure Development, which involves construction of the Farkwa dam, WTP, preparation of water conveyance systems to Dodoma City and three towns of Bahi, Chemba and Chamwino; (ii) Catchment Protection and Management; (iii) Preparatory Activities for Subsequent Investments; and (iv) Program Management and Capacity Development. The project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 50% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which USD 63 million is adaptation finance.
