Title:
Togo - Promotion of sanitation in semi-urban centers
Detail:
This project is an important contribution to the implementation of Togo's National Development Plan, which is the benchmark for all Government actions aimed at promoting the country's economic and social development. This is a grant from the African Water Facility (AWF) Special Fund in an amount not exceeding EUR 1,250,000 for the Togolese Republic. Its implementation will make it possible for ten (10) urban centres, distributed in four of the five regions of Togo, to have a programme and a favourable framework for investment in the area of sanitation with the option of reclaiming its by-products to strengthen food security, employment opportunities and, in sum, economic and social welfare. The project includes both a catalytic component and an investment project preparation component. It covers two of the AWF's four strategic priorities, namely: (i) project preparation and promotion; and (ii) catalytic investments. Activities are organised around three components, namely: (1) Improvement of the sanitation value chain in Sokodé and its environs; (2) Preparation of SMPs and investment projects with a view to scaling up the TTS to 9 urban centres; (3) Project management. The expected duration of the Project is 24 months from the date of effectiveness of the Grant Agreement.
