TUNISIA - Treated Wastewater Quality Improvement Project for Climate Resilience Building (PAQEE-RCC)
Detail:
This intervention concerns the Treated Wastewater Quality Improvement Project for Climate Resilience Building (PAQEE-RCC). It aims to improve the water balance, build climate resilience and improve the living conditions of citizens. Reusing TWW will help to increase the available water (non-conventional water) and improve the balance between water needs and resources. It will enable the country to more resilient to climate change and provide water for all uses during the increasingly more frequent dry years. Improving the quality of treated wastewater will help to improve people's living conditions. The deterioration of the operating conditions of WWTPs lead to frequent stoppages due to breakdowns, resulting in the discharge of water of substandard quality and various nuisances (odours, etc.). The main project components are as follows (i) upgrading wastewater treatment plants; (ii) acquiring operating equipment; (iii) installing solar energy collection equipment; and (iv) capacity building and institutional support. This project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 100% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which 100% is adaptation finance.
