Uganda - Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (STWSSP)
Detail:
The Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (STWSSP) is the Bank’s response to a formal request by the Government of Uganda to support Government efforts to achieve sustainable provision of safe water and hygienic sanitation for the urban population with improved resilience to climate change effects by the year 2030. It will contribute to the goals of the Government’s Vision 2040 and the Second National Development Plan (NDP II). The project comprises three components: (i) Urban Water Supply; (ii) Improved Urban Sanitation and Environmental Management; (iii) Sector Program Support (SPS). It will be implemented over a 5 year period from September 2018 to June 2024 with an estimated cost of UA 48.89 million. The project has set aside UA 1.27 million under which bankable climate change resilient investment projects will be prepared to leverage approximately USD 83 million financing from the Green Climate Fund identified under the Uganda Strategic Program for Climate Change Resilience.
