Title:
Uganda - Support to the National Sudan Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness and Response Plan
Detail:
The proposed operation is a USD 1,000,000 grant from the Special Relief Fund for Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Uganda to emergency support to Ebola virus disease response activities. Indeed, on September 20, following one confirmed case, the Government of Uganda (GOU) announced a new Sudan Ebola virus disease outbreak in Ngabano Village of Madudu sub-county, Mubende district. At the same time, two sub-counties; Kiruma and Madudu had reported a cluster of six unexplained deaths that had occurred between 1st and 15th September 2022 which have been later classified as probable cases of Sudan Ebola virus. Since then, the outbreak has spread to other six districts of Kyegegwa, Kassanda, Bunyangabu, Kagadi, Wakiso and Kampala. Activities will be implemented under five main components: (i) Strengthening coordination, leadership, and resource tracking at national and sub-national levels; (ii) Timely detection and notification to alert and suspected cases in the community; (iii) Effective Management of suspected and confirmed Sudan EVD cases in Uganda; (iv) Strengthening laboratory diagnosis for Sudan Ebola virus; (v) Emergency EVD logistics and supplies deployed timely.
