An additional ramp will be constructed exclusively for High-quality Public Transport at Heirstraat. A new bus lane will be provided between Heirstraat and the N78. The existing double-lane roundabouts on the N78 are too small and cannot handle sufficient traffic. In addition, the intention is to use the Disconnection Road (last section realised in October 2021) more for through traffic and thus be able to relieve the centre of Maasmechelen. The roundabouts will be transformed into spiral and turbo roundabouts, allowing them to direct traffic more smoothly towards the diversion road.
