Restricted Planning Competition Extension of the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Accordance with Rpw 2013 with Previous Participation Competition and Subsequent Negotiation Process, 67346 Speyer The Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer is housed in a listed historic building and an extension built at the end of the 1980s. This extension was intended to expand the necessary exhibition space. However, it can be used in its current form for museum purposesCondition has not been used for several years due to structural damage. The structure of the building is damaged and parts of it can no longer be preserved or repaired. Triggered by the necessary repair and modernization measures on the extension, the museum management ordered a new buildingevaluation of the entire museum concept was carried out. The aim of this was to identify, improve and further develop the weak points in traffic routes and exhibition use caused by the building structure. At the same time, there are several reports and economic viability calculationsled to the decision to demolish the extension mentioned above - while retaining the 2nd and 3rd basement floors - up to the upper edge of the ceiling above the 2nd basement floor and to rebuild it on the remaining floors. With the demolition of the existing glass pyramids and damaged flOn the one hand, roof coverings are intended to eliminate the main causes of penetrating moisture and, at the same time, to generate functional improvements in museum operations and an increase in the areas of use within the framework of the urban planning requirements.
