RATIONALE: The Philippine constitution has put a great emphasis on the equality of men and women in the society. Every member of society, male or female, has the right to equal opportunity to live a full and fulfilling life. Women and men have the same opportunities to use their full human rights and capabilities to contribute to and benefitfrom development. Likewise, Philippines is committed under international and national laws to integrate gender equality into the principles, goals, and processes of Philippine education. The 1987 Constitution states three prominent provisions. The Declaration of Principles Article II Section 14 asserted that: “The State recognizes the role of women in nation-building and shall ensure the fundamental equality before the law of women and men.” Following DO 32, S. 2017 on Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy, the Department of Education issues the Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy in line with its Gender and Development (GAD) mandate as stipulated in the 1987 Philippine Constitution, Republic Act (RA) No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women (MCW), RA 10533 or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, and the Philippines’ International Human Rights Commitments to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) among others. The demand to reiterate gender equality among school teachers has flourished considering the overlapping roles that they perform. In line with these legal bases, the school believes that through conducting this Gender and Development (GAD) Training and Seminar Workshop on How to Stop Gender Stereotyping in the Workplace and The Causes of Stress would foster camaraderie among its personnel. With shared vision focused on the welfare of the learners, such activities would mean a great asset in achieving teamwork and collaboration in line with DepEd’s mandate to ensure access to quality education for all. II. OBJECTIVES: 1. To better understand gender dynamics and their impact on development; 2. To build skills for implementing gender-responsive solutions; 3. To increase commitment to advancing gender equality and equity in development initiatives. I. TRAINING METHODOLOGY: Training and Interactive Seminar Workshop II. EXPECTED OUTPUT OF THE TRAINING: At the end of the seminars, participants are: 1. Demonstrate an increased understanding of how gender dynamics influence development outcomes. 2. Create actionable plans or project proposals that incorporate gender-responsive strategies. 3. Develops a commitment statement or pledge that details how they intend to advance gender equality and equity within their spheres of influence.
