Overview
Sources Sought - Vermilion Section 14 Description A market survey is being conducted to determine if there are a reasonable number of interested small business concerns to set this future project aside for them. If your firm is a Small Business, certified HUBZone, 8A, Woman-Owned Small Business or Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business and you are interested in this project please respond appropriately. Project Location: Vermilion County Highway 21 in Illinois Project Description: The scope of the project includes a detailed survey of the area. A geotechnical investigation was conducted to confirm the soil materials and analyze the method of failure. The bank will be cleared of all vegetation. It is proposed to install a riprap ditch along the edge of the road and connect to the top of the riprap. The method of streambank restoration is to backfill the eroded area with filter stone and class I riprap. The 8” of filter stone will act as a filter, allowing the water to exit the bank. The bank will be protected by overlaying a minimum 40-inch layer of vegetated Class I riprap for approximately 380 feet along the bank. The new riprap stone will be installed from the toe of the bank up to EL 623.5. It is anticipated that construction will be completed in one construction season. The project area is approximately 1.64 acres. Most of the riprap toe will be placed under the ordinary high-water elevation. The 450- length riprap will be placed at a 2 to 1 slope with topsoil placed within the riprap to allow vegetation to grow. A 125- long ditch will be constructed with riprap and a filter fabric layer. A portion of the existing County Road 21 will be demolished with another project realigning the road post construction. The Vermilion River is a wild and scenic river. Contract duration is estimated at 180 calendar days. The estimated cost range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 (FAR 36.204 DFARS 236.204). NAICS code is 237990.
