Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) 14A Dike Raising and Weir Improvements - The existing back dike currently spans a length of approximately 11,000 feet and has a crest elevation ranging from about 27 to 29 feet mean lower low water (MLLW). The back dike will be raised to a uniform elevation of 33 feet MLLW. The existing front dike currently spans a length of approximately 6,400 feet and has a crest elevation ranging from about 25 to 27 feet MLLW. The front dike will be raised to a uniform elevation of 31 feet MLLW to gain additional capacity for containment of Savannah Harbor dredged material. Approximately 231,000 cubic yards of borrow material from the adjacent 14B DMCA will be required for the raising of the back dike and approximately 65,000 cubic yards for the front dike. Additional borrow materials from the adjacent 14B DMCA may be needed. Weir modifications for weirs 14A1, 14A2, and 14A3 are anticipated, as well as resetting the abutment on cross-dike weir 14A/B. The borrow material consists of dredge materials from the Savannah River. The dike construction will be performed to the inside of the existing dike crest and slope.
