The existing IT network is based on a classic, hierarchical network concept and only on systems and components from the manufacturer Cisco. Around 5,600 network components/WLAN access points are currently in use. In 2021, a new SDN (software defined networking)-based network concept for the UKE was created in order to be able to meet current requirements and current security requirements.
