UNCHUAN TO THE 18th KAGAY-AN INTERNATIONAL TAPOK IN LOS ANGELES, USA FROM JUNE 19-24, 2024. I. Background and Information of the Activity Over 40 years ago, an ambitious idea of gathering Kagayanons and Misamisnons from all over the U.S., Canada, and other parts of the world was conceived. This idea materialized in 1982 and this Kagayanon International (KI) gathering was named TAPOK.“TAPOK” in the Kagayanon dialect literally translates as “gathering”. The purpose of this social gathering is to renew old friendships, foster new ties, and to preserve our distinct and unique Kagayanon culture and heritage. Through the years, a noble objective was added; to help and provide assistance to our shared hometown of Cagayan de Oro City in the Province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. II. Objectives Attendance to the 18th Kagay-anon International Tapok will have the following objectives: 1. To strengthen the existing international travel relationships as well as establish new ones and continue to become a part of the most resilient community of travel. 2. To get insights, meet partners, and unlock an endless supply of business opportunity. III. Legal Basis Republic Act (RA) No. 9593, otherwise known as the Tourism Act of 2009, mandates the Department of Tourism (DOT) to harness the potential of the tourism sector as an engine for sustainable growth. It likewise directs the Department to develop an integrated market development program to attract people to visit the Philippines and enhance the prestige of the country and Filipino people in the international community. In this regard, the Department shall seek to: (a) Ensure the development of Philippine tourism that is for and by the Filipino people, conserve and promote their heritage, national identity and sense of unity; (b) Recognize sustainable tourism development as integral to the national socioeconomic development efforts to improve the quality of life of the Filipino people, providing the appropriate attention and support for the growth of this industry; (c) Promote a tourism industry that is ecologically sustainable, responsible, participative, culturally sensitive, economically viable, and ethically and socially equitable for local communities; (d) Create a favorable image of the Philippines within the international community, thereby strengthening the country’s attraction as a tourism destination and eventually paving the way for other benefits that may result from a positive global view of the country; (e) Develop the country as a prime tourist hub in Asia, as well as a center of world congresses and conventions, by promoting sustainable tourism anchored principally on the country’s history, culture and natural endowments, and ensuring the protection, preservation and promotion of these resources. IV. Purchase and Issuance of Domestic and International Airline Tickets A. Airfare: • One (1) Round Trip Economy Class (Subject upon Approval of the Request for Travel Authority) B. Passengers and Proposed Flight: 1. MARIE ELAINE S. UNCHUAN: • June 18, 2024- Travel to Metro Manila • June 19, 2024- Travel to the USA • June 24, 2024- Travel back to the Philippines • June 25, 2024- Travel back to CDO City Note: Travel and Tour Operator may propose other flight itinerary that must be within the identified travel dates and approved budget for the contract (ABC). C. Requirements: • Ticket is rebookable, re-routable and refundable • Regular Economy Fare • Include Travel Insurance with COVID-19 Provisions • Include at least 40 KG weight allowance • Show breakdown of quotation • Include travel tax and fuel charges (Travel Tax will be deducted upon submission of Travel Tax Exemption Certificate) • Copies of passport will be provided • Must be DOT Accredited • Experience working with National Government Agencies is preferred • Must be registered with the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) • Travel Agency must be within Northern Mindanao V. Total Budget TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS ONLY (P200,000.00) inclusive of all applicable government taxes A. Terms of Payment: Government Procedure / willing to provide services on a send bill arrangement payable within thirty (30) working days.
